About me
I’m Cao Jiahui. I come from China. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to introduce myself. I’m a 19-year-old girl who loves life. Exploration and Connection” are the overarching themes of my life. Whether traveling the world or immersing myself in the morning tranquility of a golf course, I experience the subtle yet profound connections between people and nature, and between people and culture.

Travel is one of the most important parts of my life. I love packing my bags and traveling to different places to experience the sights and culture, whether it’s the ancient towns of Europe or the tropical islands of Southeast Asia. For me, traveling is more than just sightseeing or relaxing; it’s a way to learn and grow. It allows me to see diverse cultures and lifestyles, and teaches me to respect cultural differences. I especially enjoy interacting with locals during my travels and learning about their daily lives and stories. It’s these genuine connections between people that fuel my passion for exploring the world.

Besides traveling, another important hobby of mine is golf. I once read in a book that golf is a solitary conversation, but for me, it’s more like a form of meditation and self-cultivation. I love spending the morning on the course, feeling the breeze and the scent of the grass, and focusing on each swing. It helps me find balance in my fast-paced life and teaches me the power of focus and self-reflection. Golf has taught me that success is never achieved overnight. It has taught me to find my own rhythm through constant adjustment and experimentation.

About my pet
Another very important family member in my life is my dog, whom I’ve had for five years. His Chinese name is Tuan Tuan, which means chubby ball of fur. He’s such a sweet puppy. When I was in China, he’d always greet me home with a wagging tail. However, after coming to the UK to study, I had to temporarily separate from him. Due to immigration policies and living arrangements, I wasn’t able to bring him with me. Fortunately, my parents in China are helping me take care of him. Every weekend when I have free time, I’ll video call my parents to check on him. Sometimes he recognizes my voice and wags his tail at the screen.

Studying in the UK has been a significant cross-cultural experience in my life. I absolutely love the pace of life and cultural atmosphere here. The UK boasts a rich history yet is incredibly inclusive. Whether discussing issues with students from different countries in class or experiencing the multicultural fusion on the streets, I’ve benefited immensely. This cross-cultural environment has deepened my understanding of the meaning of diversity and taught me to consider issues from different perspectives, respecting the logic and emotions behind different cultures. I believe it is this open-minded and inclusive attitude that has enabled me to continue to grow in my new studies and life.
