Hello World

Hello World, I’m Caleigh. I’m 20 and originally from the US but here at Westminster for my full third year of university. My degree will be in Global Media and Cultural Studies.

This is my second time studying in London and I don’t think I will ever tire of the city. Especially now living on the Harrow Campus I am able to leave the energy of the city behind but still have the option of easily going in.

My Dog!

The most important thing to know about me is that my dog is my best friend. Her full legal name is Special Agent Clarice M. Starling but we mostly just call her Starling. She’s of course named after the novel and film Silence of the Lambs of which my family and I are huge fans of. She is so energetic and is often throwing her dog toys around or rolling on top of them. I love taking her on long walks and trying to get her to catch frisbees.

Movies!

Something else that almost as important to me as my dog is watching movies. For me, watching movies is rarely ever causal. I have always been obsessed with the art of film making and learning about everything that creates the final film. Choosing one favorite film is impossible so I’ll list a few. First I have always had a soft spot for horror movies. They seem so endlessly creative to me in ways other genres typically don’t. With that said The Shining has been my favorite movie since I was a kid. I just never get sick of watching or listening to the score. I also love films like Jaws, The Evil Dead, The Thing, When Evil Lurks, and Late Night with the Devil. Most recently the movie Sinners blew me away and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. No but if you don’t think Jaws is the best film ever made you need to go back and rewatch.Moving on from horror I also love movies like Ocean’s Eleven, Weekend at Bernies, The Birdcage, and The Princess Bride.

Those are basically the most important things to know about me. I am really excited for this semester and to learn more about Theories of Media and Communication and of course get to know my fellow classmates!
