Does sharing images of this place create connection, commodify it, or both? When sharing theses images we have to explore the sociological and cultural impact of Brick lane when uploading them onto social media. Sharing theses images can build a community, knowledge, culture appreciation and emotion. This is due to each picture symbolising how society views our world. For instance when exploring Bangla Town, there were many portraits that showed different political leaders and the way each art was style it had shown how the user felt about our leaders in todays society. It captures ones views and emotions and even allow other people in the community to feel the same way and feel the same connection.
Being able to see the connection between shop owners promoting a part of their heritage to the people of Brick Lane to bring people together shows pride and deep meaning as social media can be a platform to showcase the reality of our society and how easy it is to physically join and understand on and another.
Commodifying means being able to turn something non-physical like culture, human identity or the neighbourhood of Bircklane vibes into a commercial product to be sold or consumed. In this case being able to post pictures on Instagram or upload TikTok videos about Bricklane can help boost its popularity and even allow the public to post “pleasing” and “asethetic” clips to show users the beauty of the area and how much more their is to london than most common tourist attraction. This can lead to public to really dive into the beauty an diversity of london and allow other to truly see how people capture reality into art.
